Nigeria religions
To most Nigerians religion and faith are important aspects of everyday life. It controls the laws , how you think and act, what you belief and value. there are 3 main Religions in Nigeria, the Christians, Muslims and Traditional idol worshiper or could be referred to as pagans. Nigeria is roughly 45% Christians, 45% Muslims and 10% traditional religions and beliefs. thought the government supports the different religions but the past past leaders have usually been Muslims. Christianity and Islamic religion is well known through out the world but the most interesting religion about Nigeria is its traditional religions and beliefs. There are a number of different traditional religions and they usually are specific to the different ethnic groups, the deities are usually the gods and goddesses that the ethnic group believes in, and each ethnic group had a shrine dedicated to the deities that it believed in. these deities they believe do all sort of things and have some unbelievable names like gods of the earth , god of war, god of thunder, god of the sun, god of the rain or weather etc. Each of these gods has there worshipers although they do not have any written documentation to their practices and beliefs, they did rely on a priest to teach them and intervene on there behalf, the priest are usually very trained for these, at times as soon as they are born they are raised to do this task. the priest are respected so much in this ethnic groups because they are seen as the eyes and ears of their god. Some of these deities are represented by objects such as axe, thunderbolts, Iron objects, some has shrines on land and water which represents there dwelling places on earth.
